President Ilham Aliyev, in an interview with France 24 in Munich, stated that he has no doubt the land transport route connecting mainland Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan will be opened.
Axar.az reports that MP and economist Vugar Bayramov shared this on his Facebook account.
He noted that construction work on Azerbaijan’s section of the Zangezur Corridor is nearing completion.
“The section of the corridor passing through Armenia is only 40 kilometers. This means that if work intensifies, the corridor could be put into operation in a relatively short period.
When will the Zangezur Corridor become operational and what will its capacity be?
With a transit capacity of 15 million tons, the Zangezur Corridor will make a significant contribution to regional development. In the near future, it will become an important segment of the Middle Corridor, strengthening Azerbaijan’s geopolitical position and increasing revenues for regional states.
According to assessments by Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkiye, the Zangezur Corridor is expected to be operational by 2030. Through this corridor, cargo from China could reach London in just 18 days. Based on a 10-year forecast, the corridor could generate $50 billion in revenue and contribute to the creation of more than 60,000 additional jobs annually.”
