On April 16, a meeting was held in Brussels between delegations from the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union to resume negotiations on a new bilateral agreement and to continue discussions on the Partnership Priorities document.
Axar.az reports that the information was provided by the press service of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, while the EU side was represented by Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service Audrone Perkauskiene.
The talks were described as constructive and focused on building mutual understanding on both documents and planning the next stages of negotiations.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed that the next round of talks will be held in Baku in early June.
The Azerbaijani delegation included representatives from several government bodies, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Justice, Energy, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, Labour and Social Protection, as well as the State Customs Committee, the Central Bank, SOCAR, and other institutions.
During the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev also met with Deputy Director-General for Climate Action of the European Commission Jan Dusik and Deputy Director-General for Environment Patrick Child. They discussed launching a structured dialogue between Azerbaijan and the EU on climate and environmental issues, as well as cooperation within the COP process and other international climate initiatives.
