On April 16, a meeting was held in Brussels between delegations from the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union to resume negotiations on a new bilateral agreement and to continue discussions on the Partnership Priorities document.
Axar.az informs that the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, while the EU side was headed by Audrone Perkauskiene, Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service.
The talks, held in a constructive atmosphere, helped both sides better understand each other’s positions on both documents and plan the next stages of negotiations.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that the next round of talks will take place in Baku in early June.
Alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Azerbaijani delegation included representatives from the Ministries of Economy, Justice, Energy, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, and Labor and Social Protection, as well as the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, the State Customs Committee, the Central Bank, and SOCAR.
As part of the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev also met with European Commission Deputy Directors-General Jan Dusik (Climate Action) and Patrick Child (Environment). The discussions focused on establishing an Azerbaijan–EU dialogue on climate and environmental issues, as well as exchanging views on the COP process and international initiatives in these areas.
