On May 18, in Baku, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Rashad Nabiyev, and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, signed the Protocol of the 41st meeting of the Coordination Council for the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and construction of the railway section from Marabda to the border of the Republic of Turkiye (Kartsakhi) within the framework of the implementation of the new railway line project "Baku-Tbilisi-Kars", Azerbaijan Railways.

Axar.az reports that the document confirms the completion and final acceptance of the modernization works carried out on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project.

It was noted that in order to increase the capabilities of the BTK, modernization work was carried out by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC in 2024 on the 184-kilometer section of the line passing through the territory of Georgia.
