Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has met with the Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, on the sidelines of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
Axar.az reports that, according to the Ministry of Economy, the meeting focused on the development of cooperation in investment, trade, energy, industry, transport, and other areas.
The strong strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan was highlighted with satisfaction, and both sides noted that political dialogue between the two countries is at a high level and that cooperation based on mutual trust continues to develop steadily. They also emphasized that Azerbaijan–Pakistan relations have significant potential in the economic sphere.
During the discussions, particular attention was given to fully realizing economic cooperation opportunities, promoting mutual investments, and expanding ties between business communities. The importance of strengthening cooperation in trade, energy, industry, transport, and other fields was underlined.
The sides also noted the importance of the Preferential Trade Agreement in expanding economic relations and business cooperation, contributing to increased trade turnover and the formation of new areas of partnership.
It was noted that WUF13 is being held in Baku from May 17 to 22 in cooperation between the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Government of Azerbaijan.
The forum brings together a wide range of stakeholders to discuss one of the world’s most pressing issues—housing provision—under the theme “Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities.”
WUF13 serves as a platform for governments, communities, experts, and partners to exchange views, develop policy approaches, and accelerate solutions for sustainable urban development through practical and interactive formats.
