Oil tanker struck by unknown projectile off Oman

An oil tanker was struck by an unknown projectile about 9 nautical miles northeast of Ash Shishah, Oman.

Axar.az reports that United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced the incident in a post on X.

The vessel’s master reported that the strike damaged the engine room and disabled the tanker. All crew members were reported safe.

The environmental impact of the incident remained unknown at the time of the report.

UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to proceed with caution and report any suspicious activity.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
