Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu on Wednesday announced the number of Syrian refugees who returned to their country after a number of operations purged northern Syrian regions from terrorists belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and ISIS.

Axar.az reports citing Yenisafak that stating that the number of Syrians who returned to their native country in 2019 was a whopping 368,217, he said that 363 terrorists were neutralized after they had been detected by Turkey’s unmanned aerial vehicles.

As the eight-year civil war in Syria rages on, Turkey has spared no effort to accommodate and aid its people, taking in close to 4 million refugees.

Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since early 2011, when the regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity.

Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and more than 10 million others displaced, according to UN officials.
