The United States allocated around $7.5 million to support Armenian media outlets, journalists and bloggers.

Axar.az informs that according to US government spending data reviewed by RIA Novosti, Washington initially planned to allocate $15 million to the Media Program in Armenia.

Launched in 2023, the program was scheduled to run through 2028 but was terminated just two years after its launch.

The funding was distributed through Internews, an international nonprofit organization that supports independent media initiatives. By December 2024, 59 Armenian media outlets had received funding, 338 media professionals had received training, and journalists and bloggers had produced 805 pieces of content with the program’s support, according to documents reviewed by RIA Novosti.

After Donald Trump returned to the White House, his administration launched a sweeping review of US foreign aid, including programs run by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). As part of the review, funding for Internews’ grant supporting the Armenian media program was terminated on March 1, 2025.
