The first-ever “Three Brothers 2021” Joint Military Exercise of the special forces of Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey is indeed a historic occasion that would contribute to further solidifying the defence cooperation among the three countries.

Axar.az reports that the Pakistani ambassador to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee stated this while commenting on the "Three brothers 2021" joint military exercises.

According to the ambassador, Pakistan Azerbaijan and Turkey have also been cooperating in many other areas under different trilateral mechanisms including the Foreign Ministries and Parliaments of the three countries:

"The ‘Three Brothers 2021’ is yet another manifestation of the close cooperation among the three countries. I would, however, not characterize this military exercise with any particular nomenclature. We in Pakistan see this development as a continuation of our historic cooperation in the defence and military domain. These exercises would help in further sharpening the preparedness of our forces, especially for counter-terrorism capabilities. Our three countries have been the victim of terrorist activities orchestrated and sponsored by external powers. We hope these exercises would provide the opportunity to not only enhance their capabilities but also learn from each other’s experiences" - the ambassador stated.

The ambassador also spoke about the possibility of this union becoming an alliance in the future:

"Since the objective of these exercises is to build defence and CT capabilities, the prospects of other like-minded countries joining such exercises could not be ruled out."
