President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev arrived on a business trip to the Kingdom of Belgium on May 13 at the invitation of the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel.

During the conversation, the previous meetings of the President of Azerbaijan with Marosh Shefcovich were recalled with pleasure. Marosh Sefcovic's contribution to the successful implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor was noted and his active role as co-chairman of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council was emphasized.
Marosh Sefcovich congratulated the head of state on the successful implementation and efficient operation of the Southern Gas Corridor project.
During the meeting, issues of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union were discussed, the visit of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to our country in July of last year and the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Azerbaijan and the European Union on Strategic Partnership in the energy field was noted. The process of increasing the export of Azerbaijani gas to the European Union was successfully implemented and the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in April in Sofia was emphasized. The importance of Azerbaijani gas covering a wider geography in the European space was noted.
During the conversation, cooperation issues related to renewable energy production between Azerbaijan and the European Union were discussed, it was said that this field has great prospects.
