The first meeting after 13 years between the presidents of Turkiye and Syria, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Bashar al-Assad, may take place in Russia.

Axar.az reports that "Turkiyya" newspaper published information about this with reference to sources in Ankara.

The report claims that the meeting could be held in September:

"Russia, Persian Gulf countries and Iraq are considered as meeting places. The Damascus administration is preparing, focusing on Iraq. Ankara wants the process of preparing the meeting to continue quietly. It will be clear in which country the negotiations will be held after the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Turkiye."
