Kazakhstan takes a responsible approach to climate change obligations and plans to actively participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
Axar.az reports that the President of Kazakhstan Gasim-Jomart Tokayev said this during his speech at the informal summit meeting of the heads of state of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held on July 6 in Shusha.
According to him, climate change management is of great importance:
"The climate situation is getting more complicated. Abnormal heat, forest fires, droughts and floods in different parts of the world clearly confirm this trend. We are ready to strengthen cooperation with the Turkish world on climate issues. This year, we plan to actively participate in the COP29 climate conference to be held in Azerbaijan. "Kazakhstan takes a responsible approach to climate change obligations."
He also added that in 2026, Kazakhstan will hold the Regional Climate Summit under the auspices of the UN.
