Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa urged Israel to reconsider its decision to declare UN Secretary-General António Guterres “persona non grata.”

Axar.az reports that he called the decision disproportionate, as Guterres expressed regret where Israel expected condemnation. Rebelo de Sousa emphasized that reconsidering such decisions would support peace efforts and align with common sense.
Guterres, in response, clarified that he had implicitly condemned Iran for its recent missile attack on Israel. This attack followed the assassinations of leaders from Hamas, Hezbollah, and an Iranian general.
