The loss of settlements in Russia is viewed as a temporary situation. Therefore, the Russians have sent only a small number of reserve forces to Kursk region. It seems that the enemy does not take the situation in this region seriously and considers the offensive in Donetsk, where their forces are concentrated, to be more important.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Roman Svitan, a military expert, pilot instructor, and retired colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In his opinion, the capture of settlements in Russia is insignificant because of its large territory. Svitan added that the priority for the Russians is to capture Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia:

"Additionally, the Ukrainians do not need Kursk, and Kyiv will not blow up the Kursk nuclear power plant. However, they could disrupt the mechanisms for electricity distribution in Kursk, Belgorod, and Bryansk regions. This poses a problem for the Russians, so they will try to defend the nuclear power plant. The Russians could have halted their offensive in Donetsk because of Kursk, but restarting would be difficult. They have started moving on the eastern front and will not stop."

Svitan noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces now have a broad range of tasks, including advancing in Kursk and conducting raids along the entire border with Moscow. He believes that everything will depend on how the Russians behave in the near future:

"If they start transferring enough troops to Kursk, they will reduce the pressure on the eastern front and stop Ukrainian advances in Kursk. If they do not, then Ukrainians will continue to advance."

Svitan also mentioned that the attack on Kursk allowed Ukraine to halt Russia's advance towards Sumy. Thus, it can be assumed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have accomplished most of their tasks within their operations.

Svitan claimed that the Kursk operation should have been carried out much earlier.
