At the international conference held in Baku on the topic of the "Illegal Occupation of the Mayotte Island by France," a Final Statement was adopted.

Axar.az reports that the conference, organized by the Baku Initiative Group, was attended by ambassadors of the Comoros Union who have served at the UN, in South Africa, and other regions, as well as representatives from the “Maore Committee,” “Third Way Collective (C3V),” “Democratic Front,” and “Collective for the Defense of the Integrity and Sovereignty of the Comoros Islands.”

Also present were representatives of Mayotte, diplomatic corps members active in Azerbaijan, as well as ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, professors, experts, think tanks, and media representatives.

During the conference, there was an extensive discussion on numerous resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council and General Assembly concerning the occupation of Mayotte, France's non-compliance with these resolutions, and its illegal activities aimed at not liberating Mayotte, recognized as a territory of the Comoros Union at the international level. Detailed information was provided on Mayotte’s “referendum” to join France, the damage inflicted on the Comorians, and the consequences of French colonialism.

Representatives of the Comoros Islands stated that France has used its status as a permanent member of the UN Security Council to localize the issue of Mayotte's occupation, preventing its recognition at the level of international organizations and blocking all related initiatives. Since 1995, France has pressured other states not to adopt resolutions on the occupation of Mayotte at the UN and has avoided implementing previously adopted documents.

As part of the conference, a flash mob was organized to express full support for the territorial integrity of the Comoros Union.

At the end of the event, a Final Statement was adopted by the participants. Additionally, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Maore Committee and the Baku Initiative Group.

It should be noted that the primary goal of the Maore Committee is to return Mayotte to the Comoros Union.
