The Front for the Liberation of French Colonies has issued a statement in response to the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs' travel warning about Azerbaijan.

Axar.az presents the text of the statement:

"Although the Prime Minister of France has not yet formed his government, the actions of the outgoing Minister of Internal Affairs and the alarmist warnings from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Azerbaijan do not confuse anyone.

The government's next step will undoubtedly be to completely ban 'French citizens' from visiting the said country. This decision contradicts 'human rights' and the 'free movement of people and goods' and will be entirely unlawful. The only purpose of the actions of the French State is to prevent the Baku Initiative Group from continuing its mission under the mandate given by the Non-Aligned Movement within the framework of the United Nations. The mission of the Baku Initiative Group is to end colonialism worldwide.

France fully understands that its international image is deteriorating – this is because the Baku Initiative Group has brought to the attention of the international community how the territories of countries that are members of the organization have been occupied by the 'country of human rights' (France) and how it has treated and continues to treat local peoples. The current situation in Kanaky (New Caledonia) is the best example of this.

The Liberation Front of organizations in the last colonies under French domination is rebelling against the methods of a country that is not hesitating to resort to the crudest and most undemocratic tricks to protect its colonies and that is in political decline. The goal here is to maintain its position in the parade of great maritime powers by holding onto the interests that allow its existence to continue.

For our part, we will continue to work with the Baku Initiative Group within the framework established by the UN or with any other partner we deem necessary, either to finally achieve our independence or to protect the interests of our peoples!"

It should be noted that the statement was signed by the leaders of 14 political movements in the territories under French colonial rule.

Recall that in July of this year, leaders of political parties and movements fighting for independence in French colonies held their first Congress in Baku, establishing the Front for the Liberation of French Colonies.

Authorized representatives of 17 colonies of France and the Netherlands signed the final Declaration on the creation of the Liberation Front. Participants also approved the Charter of the Front.
