The emergence of such a forgery makes it clear that the alliance between Russia and Azerbaijan greatly irritates certain forces. These forces exist both within Russia and Azerbaijan. I believe that only real enemies—open adversaries of both Azerbaijan and Russia—are capable of such falsifications.
Axar.az reports that Russian political analyst Yevgeny Mikhailov shared this view while commenting on the fake letter allegedly addressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.
"I assume that Western intelligence agencies are involved here, and this information was disseminated through Ukraine. It is also entirely possible that this 'leak' could have originated from Armenia. There is ample room for speculation. What is clear is that the battle against forgery is at a high level right now. Fundamentally, no one doubted that this was fake. There are no problems in the relations between our countries. The attempts to set us against each other are evident. They are even using the AZAL plane crash for this purpose because they have no other angle. It is the only means they can use to fuel tension," he said.
It is important to note that a letter, allegedly from Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Bayramov, was circulating online. The letter, written in English, falsely claimed that Russia could not guarantee the safe use of its airspace. The Russian Foreign Ministry later commented that the letter was a political order and an attempt to speculate regarding crash of Azerbaijan Airways aircraft.
