Ilham Aliyev is a politician of a much larger scale than regional politics.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Armenian-born Russian director Karen Shahnazarov in an interview with "Moscow-Baku."

"He has grown in the political sphere and is a far-sighted politician with his own perspective and ideas. This is the main idea for a head of state—sovereignty and independence of one's own country. Aliyev influences the structure of the entire South Caucasus and strives to positively affect peace among neighbors. He faces goals that are larger than domestic issues. In this regard, I have unreserved respect for him. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his Armenian counterparts," he stated.
