French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottini, who failed to follow elementary diplomatic etiquette rules, focused more on smear campaign against Azerbaijan than Armenia-France relations, is primarily a result of the failure of French foreign policy.

Axar.az reports that these views were reflected in the response of the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykhan Hajizade, to the question of the local media about the groundless claims made against Azerbaijan by Olivier Decottini, the ambassador of France to Armenia, in an interview with the Armenian "Hetq" media agency.

"In the interview, the targeting of measures that put an end to the occupation and separatism in the territory of Azerbaijan, wrong references to the decisions of the International Court of Justice, statements supporting Armenia's "incomplete peace" ideas and a number of other absurd approaches, first of all, how the French side distorts the realities and is interested in sustainable and real peace building in the region demonstrates once again that it is not.

France's behavior and provocations aimed at continuing the escalation in the region have proven the true nature of this country's intention and policy during both the conflict and post-conflict periods," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
