German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced the dismissal of Finance Minister Christian Lindner, the leader of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), from his position in the coalition government.

Axar.az informs this was reported during a press conference where the Chancellor also stated that a vote of confidence in the government would take place in the federal parliament on January 15.

Based on the results of the confidence vote, the parliamentary elections, which were originally scheduled for September next year, may be held earlier.

The Chancellor mentioned that all issues on the parliamentary agenda would be put to a vote before the New Year holiday, and topics such as pension increases, urgent measures in the industrial sector, and other issues would be discussed within this framework.

It is worth noting that the publication of an 18-page report by Christian Lindner, which proposed significant changes in the economic sector, caused a major crisis within the coalition government. The report had been sent to Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck, both of whom represent the Green Party.
