On December 5, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maka Botchorishvili within the framework of his participation in the 31st meeting of the Council of Ministers of the OSCE.
Axar.az reports that the press service department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told that various aspects of the existing strategic partnership and friendly relations between the two countries, as well as regional security issues, were discussed at the meeting.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov once again congratulated his colleague on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and wished him success during his tenure.
The parties expressed their satisfaction with the strategic partnership between our countries based on the norms and principles of international law, especially territorial integrity and mutual respect for sovereignty and friendship.
Possible contributions of the use of the mechanism of political consultations to the development of cooperation within the framework of regional and international platforms have been noted.
The importance of the development of economic, contractual-legal, humanitarian and energy aspects of bilateral relations was noted, the importance of joint strategic projects was highlighted. The importance of the activity of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Georgia was emphasized.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his colleague about the results of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which was chaired by our country and was held for the first time in our region. It was noted that it will continue its international efforts in the field of developing green energy at the national level and the importance of further developing cooperation with Georgia in this direction.
The other side was also informed in detail about regional reconstruction, construction and peace efforts in the post-conflict period, and the existence of Armenia's territorial claims to neighboring states was emphasized as the biggest threat to sustainable peace building in the region.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged, including other issues of mutual interest.
