Azerbaijani and Russian leaders demonstrated political wisdom regarding the plane crash in Aktau.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by Igor Korotchenko, Director General of the Caspian Strategic Research Institute and a Russian political analyst.

"Following their phone conversation, the presidents agreed on providing joint and necessary assistance in conducting the investigation. I believe they have demonstrated political wisdom by doing everything possible to ensure that the tragic incident involving an Azerbaijani plane in Russian airspace does not impact the interstate and partnership relations between Moscow and Baku," he noted.

Korotchenko emphasized that Aliyev and Putin maintain direct communication channels and have the ability to make prompt and decisive decisions on the most complex issues:

"We believe that thorough work will be carried out to determine all the causes of the tragedy and, accordingly, to draw the necessary legal conclusions."

It should be noted that on December 25, an AZAL plane operating the Baku-Grozny flight was shot down by Russian air defense systems over the skies of Grozny and sustained severe damage. As it was not permitted to land, the plane headed towards Aktau and crashed near Aktau Airport. As a result, 38 out of the 67 people on board were killed, and 29 survived.
