Lithuania’s FM expresses condolences to Azerbaijan

Today, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, called the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.

Axar.az reports this information, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Kęstutis Budrys conveyed his condolences regarding the tragic crash of an "Azerbaijan Airlines" passenger plane near Aktau while operating the Baku-Grozny flight. He expressed sympathy for the victims and wished a swift recovery to the injured.

Minister Budrys regretted that his first phone call coincided with such a sorrowful occasion and emphasized that Lithuania is always ready to provide possible support for the rehabilitation of the injured and the investigation of the tragedy's causes.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked him for his condolences and solidarity, noting that the investigation into the plane crash is under the direct supervision of the country's leadership. He also informed him about the creation of a state commission to investigate the incident and the ongoing efforts.

During the phone conversation, the ministers also discussed regional and international security, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues. They highlighted the importance of intensifying collaborative ties, especially as the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations will be celebrated next year.
