Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref on February 17 as part of his working visit to Tehran.

Axar.az informs that this was reported by the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers.

The current state of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, as well as the prospects for cooperation in the economy, trade, investment, transport-transit, oil-gas, energy, and humanitarian spheres, were discussed at the meeting.

The implementation status of the establishment of road and railway connections, the construction of the East Zangezur - Nakhchivan transport infrastructure through Iranian territory, the development of the North-South transport corridor, and other joint projects were reviewed.

At the same time, discussions were held on improving the ecological condition of the Caspian Sea, preventing pollution and shallowing of the sea, as well as several other issues related to cooperation in the Caspian Sea basin.
