The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Aykhan Hajizada, responded to the unfounded allegations made against Azerbaijan by the French Minister of Overseas Territories Manuel Valls during an interview with BFMTV.
Axar.az reports that according to the information provided by the MFA, A. Hajizada commented on the fact that the French Minister of Overseas Territories Manuel Valls, during an interview with BFMTV, once again accused Azerbaijan of waging an alleged hybrid war against France and of foreign interference in France by supporting independence supporters in overseas territories.
He noted that we firmly reject the groundless claims repeatedly made by the French side, accusing Azerbaijan of covering up its failed policy in overseas territories and efforts to continue its colonial past:
"The absurd claims made against Azerbaijan by Manuel Valls, who promotes France's colonial policy and claims that this country exists in "3 oceans and 5 continents", are nothing more than another manifestation of France's inability to reconcile itself with the loss of its foothold among those nations.
Describing his country as a "rare power", Minister Manuel Valls himself admits how weak arguments his contradictory views are in the face of the acts of violence taking place in France's overseas territories and the suppression of movements of peoples demanding independence.
Minister Manuel Valls' views, the fact that France is ready to sacrifice concepts such as freedom of thought and independence when its "strategic interests" are the subject of discussion, are, in fact, a reflection of this country's double-standard approach.
We demand that France stop its baseless smear campaign against our country by making such allegations."
