Short but intense clashes erupted in Syria, resulting in the deaths of many civilians and unarmed individuals. Although they are often labeled as “Assad remnants,” they are ultimately opposition figures against the current regime.
Axar.az reports that these remarks were made by Turkish military expert Unal Atabey while commenting on the latest developments in Syria.
According to him, if it is confirmed that foreign forces are supporting the region, the situation could become even more critical:
"In an area where distrust toward the Sharaa government is growing, people are finding it difficult to coexist and are attempting to organize. Looking at the course of events, it is evident that new weapons have been brought into the region. This strengthens the possibility that the Nusayri-'Alawis community is receiving significant arms, ammunition, and logistical support from abroad. If these clashes escalate in the coming days, it may indicate that armed groups in the region are receiving substantial external assistance. How the international community and regional powers will respond remains to be seen in the near future."
Notably, clashes between Assad loyalists and government forces began on March 6.
