The Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, discussed the further expansion of cooperation between the parliaments during her meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yusuf Reza Gilani, in Tashkent.
Axar.az reports that, according to the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis, a wide exchange of views on relations between the parliaments of the two countries was held.
Satisfaction was expressed at the meeting with cooperation and mutual support in international parliamentary organizations. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova informed the counterpart about the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and the steps taken towards the institutional development of the organization. Confidence was expressed that the fourth conference of the network to be held in Tashkent will also lead to important discussions and successful results in terms of the future development of the organization.
The Chairman of the Senate, Syed Yusuf Reza Gilani, highly appreciated the work done under his chairmanship of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Network. Noting that his country attaches great importance to relations with Azerbaijan, he said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan are brotherly countries that always support each other. The Chairman also expressed the importance of contacts between people.
The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
