U.S. President Donald Trump sparked controversy by suggesting regime change in Iran, contradicting earlier statements by his administration.

Axar.az reports that while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth emphasized that recent U.S. strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities were not about regime change and that America "does not seek war," Trump posted on Truth Social:

“If the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn't there be a Regime change???”

Vice President JD Vance said the strikes created an opportunity for Iran to return to negotiations and claimed the mission significantly delayed Iran’s nuclear capabilities. However, Trump’s remarks fueled speculation about a broader objective.

Meanwhile, Iran threatened to retaliate against U.S. bases in the Middle East, warning of “irreparable consequences.” Despite the escalation, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said no additional U.S. military operations were currently planned—unless provoked.
