On June 21, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, attended and delivered a speech at an extraordinary meeting organized within the framework of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul.

Axar.az reports that according to the information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the speech noted that the sharp change in the security situation in the Middle East as a result of the Israeli-Iranian conflict is a cause for concern and that the problem that threatens the lives of civilians, as well as regional and international stability, is unacceptable.

It was stated that the damage to civilian and nuclear infrastructure in the territory of Iran, where our close ethnic and cultural ties and neighborly relations based on the norms of international law, in particular sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders, exist, is a source of particular concern in terms of creating a serious threat to the civilian population and the environment on a regional scale.

The importance of refraining from steps that could further aggravate the current situation was emphasized.

The speech called for the prevention of another protracted armed conflict in a region beset by conflict and crisis, the immediate cessation of all military operations, and the resumption of a diplomatic process based on the norms and principles of international law.
