Richard Grenell, U.S. Presidential Envoy under Donald Trump, has called on Elon Musk to provide free Starlink internet access across Iran to support his “friends” who currently lack access to information due to government-imposed restrictions.

Axar.az reports that the request follows a U.S. missile and airstrike operation targeting three nuclear facilities in Iran, shortly after Israel launched its attack.

Grenell’s message on X highlighted Starlink’s role in ensuring connectivity during crises, and he pledged to donate if Musk enables the service in Iran. Although Musk has not publicly responded, Starlink’s infrastructure is technically available but requires special equipment to access.

Starlink, already crucial in Ukraine’s battlefield coordination, is seen as a powerful communication tool in conflict zones. Iranian authorities, meanwhile, have tightened internet controls and warned citizens against using WhatsApp, alleging Israeli surveillance.

The move reflects broader U.S. efforts to assist internal dissent and bypass censorship during escalating tensions with Iran.
