During the 44-day war, Azerbaijan was subjected to massive disinformation.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, on the second day of the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum.

He noted that Azerbaijani journalists and the Azerbaijani people were also fighting against this false information:

“There are waves of disinformation against Azerbaijan. As humans, our inability to control social media is a major struggle. Whenever regulation is discussed, counter-arguments are immediately raised. However, there is currently a need for international cooperation and partnership on regulation in the field of artificial intelligence.”

He stated that the climax of this information attack was the 44-day Patriotic War:

“We witnessed large-scale disinformation campaigns against Azerbaijan. However, Azerbaijani journalists and media outlets were not only presenting accurate facts and information — they were fighting to dismantle the entire system of lies built against Azerbaijan and its people. I am pleased to note that, thanks to professionalism, unity, and international cooperation, we were able to succeed in this information war,” Hajiyev emphasized.
