A number of social media accounts have spread a false statement on Russian-Azerbaijani relations on behalf of Hikmet Hajiyev, an assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that the Media Development Agency (MEDIA) noted in a statement that the statement, which was prepared by imitating the image of the official website of the President of Azerbaijan and contains fabricated claims, is an example of gross information manipulation aimed at misleading public opinion.

"We urge the public to believe only in information provided by official sources, and remind you that you can obtain information expressing the official position of the state from official sources, as well as from the country's news agencies and other professional media entities. We call on Azerbaijani citizens, journalists, and public activists to always demonstrate principledness against such cases and to be vigilant in a situation where campaigns based on fake and false information are gaining momentum," the statement released by MEDIA emphasized.
