Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), one of the AZCON Holding companies, has launched the first passenger train on the Baku-Agdam-Baku route from Baku to Aghdam on August 30.
Axar.az reports that according to the schedule, the train will depart from Baku on Saturdays at 07:10 and arrive in Aghdam at 11:53. The train departing from Aghdam at 18:20 will arrive at Baku Railway Station at 22:55.
According to the information, passengers will be able to use Baku, Bilajari, Ujar, Leki, Yevlakh, Barda, Kocharli, Tazakend, and Aghdam stations on the route.
Passengers will be offered standard, standard+, business, and first class travel options. The minimum price of tickets from Baku to Barda and Kocharli stations, Tazakend stop is 12 AZN, and to the Agdam Railway and Bus Station Complex is 12.80 AZN.
During the trip, it will be possible to use the free Wi-Fi service on the train.
Tickets for the Baku-Aghdam-Baku route can be purchased from the ADY website, the “ADY Mobile” application, and railway ticket offices from August 27.
In order to organize comfortable trips by train to the liberated territories, automatic permission will be provided from the portal when purchasing tickets for the Baku-Agdam-Baku route.
It should be noted that until the occupation period, passenger transportation from Baku to Aghdam was carried out by a sleeper train running on the Baku-Khankendi-Baku route. Trains last operated in the Baku-Aghdam-Baku direction in 1993. At that time, the 371 km distance to Aghdam was covered in 8 and a half hours by train.
The Baku-Aghdam-Baku railway will not only increase the accessibility of public transport in the Karabakh economic region but will also make a significant contribution to the socio-economic revival of Aghdam and surrounding regions, the expansion of transport opportunities in this region of Azerbaijan, and the Great Return as a whole.
