The situation with the Caspian Sea is deplorable. An ecological disaster is approaching.
Axar.az reports that these words were spoken by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his speech at the summit held in the “SCO Plus” format under the slogan “Implementing multilateralism, ensuring regional security and promoting sustainable development”.
“This problem could become a priority for long-term consultations within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Therefore, today I proposed to establish a Center for the Analysis of Water Problems in Astana under the auspices of the SCO. Recently, the UN Center for Sustainable Development in Central Asia and Afghanistan was opened in Almaty with the participation of the UN Secretary-General. This confirms our firm commitment to the principles of multilateral diplomacy. Taking this opportunity, I would like to inform all partners about the decision to hold the Regional Environmental Summit in Astana in April 2026, in partnership with the UN,” Tokayev said.
