Germany invests €1.35B in war-ready infrastructure

Germany has begun preparing its logistics and supply infrastructure for potential wartime scenarios.

Axar.az reports, citing Bloomberg, the port city of Bremerhaven on Germany’s North Sea coast — home to Europe’s largest car port — is set to undergo a major modernization.

The project is valued at around €1.35 billion ($1.6 billion) and will be used to reinforce loading docks so they can handle the transport of military equipment, including heavy armored vehicles such as the 60-ton Leopard tank.

According to Bloomberg, the investment is state-funded and earmarked in Germany’s 2026 budget, forming part of a broader effort by Europe’s largest economy to prepare for a potential war scenario.

The report notes that in the event of an attack on Europe, Germany’s central geographic position and industrial capacity would make it a key logistical hub for supplying military equipment and supporting troop movements.
