Restoration and reconstruction work is steadily continuing in Azerbaijan’s territories liberated from occupation, as part of the Action Plan of the First State Program on the Great Return. The Azerbaijani government is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safe and dignified return of residents, with infrastructure being fully rebuilt.
Axar.az reports, citing the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.
It was noted that work is also underway in the city of Khankendi to facilitate the return of former internally displaced persons who are permanently registered there. The chairman of the State Committee held several meetings with residents of Khankendi and Kerkicahan, both at the committee’s administrative building and in the regions. Their questions regarding the Great Return were answered, and relevant explanations were provided.
Employment-related projects are being implemented by the State Committee’s Employment Sector and other relevant government bodies. Residents are participating in training programs and are being provided with equipment corresponding to their professional skills.
“Clearing operations are being carried out in the liberated territories to eliminate the threat posed by mines and explosive ordnance, and at the same time, awareness-raising activities are conducted for the population. A few days ago, the next such event was organized for families relocating to the city of Khankendi and the settlement of Kerkicahan. During the meeting held at the State Committee, information was provided on the social protection of internally displaced persons, and videos on mine safety were shown. The relocation process is being carried out in accordance with the restoration and reconstruction schedule,” the statement said.
It should be noted that during the relocation of internally displaced persons to the liberated territories, priority is given to the phased return of families living in poor or difficult conditions. Residential areas have been fully equipped with social and technical infrastructure to ensure a safe and comfortable life for the returning IDPs.
