Icing has formed on some sections of the Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlax highway, as well as on the bends.
Axar.az reports that due to the snow falling in Gobustan since the morning and the observed frosty weather, icing has formed on the uphill and downhill sections of the Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlax highway passing through the territory of this region.
For safety reasons, the traffic police have partially restricted the movement of some vehicles from the capital to Shamakhi. Within a short period of time, the icy sections of the road were cleared by the personnel and special equipment of the Highway Operation LLC No. 4 of the Azerbaijan State Roads Agency (AAYDA), a salt-sand mixture was sprinkled on the roads, and the movement of vehicles was fully restored.
AAYDA Chief Engineer Hasan Mammadli said that employees provided roadside service at night and in the morning. According to him, although icing was observed, no serious problems arose in the movement of vehicles. Currently, there are no difficulties in the movement of cars from the capital to Shamakhi and vice versa; the road is fully open.
The chief engineer added that the department's employees are on duty in the area in shifts and will intervene immediately if necessary. There are sufficient reserves of salt and sand, necessary materials, and special equipment for this.
It should be noted that in the evening hours, it is likely that snow will fall again in the region, the weather will be frosty, and the roads may partially freeze. For this reason, drivers are advised to be careful and reschedule their trips planned for the night to the daytime.
