MES issues safety warning amid harsh weather

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has appealed to the population regarding the currently observed weather conditions.

Axar.az reports that the ministry once again reminded of a number of safety rules regarding the weather conditions.

Thus, people living in mountainous areas, as well as those traveling to the mountains, are advised not to leave their settlements as much as possible in frosty weather, and if such a necessity arises, to inform their relatives in advance about the direction of travel. When traveling by car, it is necessary to ensure that the technical characteristics of the vehicle are suitable for the season and that there is sufficient fuel supply. It is recommended to avoid areas with a risk of avalanches, including steep slopes, and also to return to the settlement before dark.

At the same time, it was noted that since cold weather conditions have led to a significant increase in the use of gas and electric heating devices, fire safety rules should be strictly observed when using these devices. Defective, non-standard, or home-made heating devices should not be used, the electrical network should not be overloaded, and heating devices that are in working condition should not be left unattended.

The Ministry once again reminded the population in its appeal: “Indifference to the rules is a threat to our lives!”

In case of danger, it is recommended to call 112.
