Geomagnetic storm expected January 12-18

There will be a geomagnetic storm on January 12-18.

Axar.az reports that the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, named after N. Tusi, published information about this.

It was noted that during the forecast days, the probability of a C-class flare is 65%, the probability of an M (R1-R2) class flare is 15%, and the probability of an X (R3) class flare is 1%.

The electron flux with an energy of more than 2 MeV is expected to increase again, while the proton flux with an energy of more than 10 MeV is expected to remain at the background level.

The solar wind speed is expected to remain above normal due to the influence of Coronal Hole Streams.

Geomagnetic field - today there is a possibility of a moderate geomagnetic storm (G2) due to the influence of TKA and Coronal Hole Streams. Then, due to the influence of recurrent Coronal Holes, the intensity of the geomagnetic field is expected to increase to the G1 level again on January 13-16.
