Iran has expressed its support for Azerbaijan's position on the Karabakh issue.

Axar.az reports that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahid Jalalzadeh said this at a press conference in Baku.

According to him, Iran supported Azerbaijan's position during the First Karabakh War:

"The Supreme Leader of Iran also declared that Karabakh is an Islamic land that is an integral part of Azerbaijan. During the Second Karabakh War, Iran was a supporter of peace in the South Caucasus."

He also touched upon the position of President Mashsud Pezeshkian and said that Iran supports the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as trade and economic relations between the two countries.
