October 18 - On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Restoration of Independence, the national flag of Azerbaijan was raised in New York, USA.

Axar.az reports that the national flag is hung in the "Bowling Green" park located on "Wall Street", which is considered the symbol of New York City and the financial center, and is one of the most visited streets by tourists.

The project was organized by the vice-president of Azerbaijan New York Association, Zemina Mirhadiyeva. Yashar Aliyev, Azerbaijan's permanent representative to the UN, and our compatriots living in New York, diaspora activists took part in the ceremony.

The flags of Azerbaijan and the USA flew together in the sky.

In his speech, Y. Aliyev congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of Independence Day.

The Azerbaijani flag will fly in the area for 10 days.

It should be noted that in previous years, the tricolor flag decorated the skies of New York on many historical days related to Azerbaijan. Bowling Green is New York's first official park and is known as the giant flag square.
