On January 2, a group of officers from the Ministry of Defense, participants of the Patriotic War, and the family members of National Hero of Azerbaijan, Major General Polad Hashimov, visited his grave on his birthday.

Polad Hashimov, born on January 2, 1975, in the village of Vandam in the Gabala district, received his secondary education in Sumgait city. He then entered the Heydar Aliyev Military Institute and successfully graduated from this special higher educational institution.
Polad Hashimov rose to the rank of "Major General" by faithfully fulfilling his orders and missions entrusted to him in the combat zones for the defense of our homeland. During the April battles of 2016, he was awarded the 3rd degree "For Service to the Homeland" order by President Ilham Aliyev, based on his distinguished service in preserving Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and fulfilling the tasks set before the Armed Forces. On June 24, 2019, Polad Hashimov was granted the rank of "Major General."
Major General Polad Hashimov was martyred on July 14, 2020, while heroically repelling enemy attack attempts and provocations near the Tovuz district. By the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 9, 2020, Major General Hashimov was posthumously awarded the title of "National Hero of Azerbaijan."
During the memorial ceremony, flower bouquets were laid at the national hero's grave on behalf of the Ministry of Defense leadership, and his memory was honored with respect and reverence.
