A Jewish singer will represent Azerbaijan at the Eurovision 2025 Song Contest.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by the Ambassador of Israel to Baku, George Deek.
"We were very excited when we heard that Asaf Mishiyev, a Jewish Azerbaijani, will represent his country at Eurovision with his talented band 'Mamagama.' Azerbaijan is our close friend. It is a country where Muslims, Christians, and Jews live together, and this is not the first time that Jewish or Christian representatives have represented it on the international stage – in sports, arts, and culture. After a long and difficult initial selection process, the choice of Asaf and his team is another proof of Azerbaijan's open and inspiring spirit. I wish Asaf, the band, and all of Azerbaijan great success on behalf of myself and the people of Israel," he said.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan will be represented by the "Mamagama" band at the Eurovision 2025 music competition, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland. "Mamagama" consists of three members: Asaf (frontman and main vocalist), Hass (guitarist), and Arif (percussionist).
