75 percent of the world's population lives in countries with below-average birth rates. In South Korea, the birth rate is falling by 50 percent every 20 years. Currently, the figure there is 0.5 percent.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by former Hungarian President Katalin Novak at a panel on the topic "UN Pact for the Future: Creating a New Global Consensus".
In her opinion, the foundation of a sustainable global economy lies in demographic growth:
"Thanks to these forums, we understand that there is a great need for female leaders in the world. It is already a fact that only strong leaders can influence the processes taking place in the world. Today, the number of births is decreasing globally. There is a 10 percent decrease in the number of births worldwide, and the whole world will see its effects soon. Today, the birth rate in North Macedonia is 1.45 percent. 75 percent of the world's population lives in countries where the birth rate is below normal levels. In South Korea, the number of births decreases by 50 percent every 20 years. Currently, this figure is at the level of 0.5 percent there. EU countries should raise this issue. At the same time, attention should be paid to migration issues. Because the volume of migration in the world is quite large. Today, a policy that takes into account the family factor should be implemented in the world. We highlight the issue of climate change, but we must know that the foundation of a sustainable global economy lies in demographic growth. "In many countries of the world, the birth rate depends on the family structure, and historically existing family traditions are no longer accepted. Of course, we must campaign among young people about the importance of increasing the birth rate."
