Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa met with Israeli officials as part of his visit to Azerbaijan.
Axar.az reports that the Israeli press published information about this.
According to the report, a source close to President al-Sharaa said that two or three such meetings are planned. Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Sheibani and the Syrian government's representative for security issues in relations with Israel, Ahmed al-Dalati, are also expected to participate in these meetings.
The Israeli delegation includes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's special representative, as well as security and military officials.
Among the topics to be discussed are the security agreement between Israel and Syria, the Iranian threat, the weapons of Hezbollah and Palestinian terrorists, and Palestinian camps in Lebanon. In addition, the possibility of opening an Israeli coordination office in Damascus without diplomatic status may also be discussed.
