Azerbaijani wrestlers win gold

Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Nihat Mammadli won the European Championship held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

Axar.az reports that the athlete competing in the 60 kg weight category defeated Serbian Georgi Tibilov in the final.

N. Mammadli, who defeated his opponent with a score of 7:3, won the title of European champion for the second time.

Another Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler, Gurban Gurbanov, won the European Championship held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

Competing in the 82 kg weight category, the athlete defeated his Hungarian opponent, Erik Silvassi.

G. Gurbanov, who won the match with a score of 6:0, rose to the highest step of the podium. This was the wrestler's first European championship among adults.

It should be noted that previously, freestyle wrestlers won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) became the European champion, Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) won silver, Islam Bazarganov (57 kg), Ali Rahimzade (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), and Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg) won bronze medals.

Among the Greco-Roman wrestlers, Eldeniz Azizli (57 kg) won silver, and Islam Abbasov (87 kg) won bronze. The Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling team became the European champion in the team event. Among the women, Zhala Aliyeva (57 kg) won bronze.
