Iran set to establish new Supreme Defense Council

As part of significant structural changes within Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Tehran is preparing to establish a new Supreme Defense Council.

Axar.az informs that this was reported by the “Fars” and “Tasnim” news agencies.

Rеports state that the structure of the Defense Council was approved a few days ago.

Sources indicate that the president will chair the council, and the secretary is expected to be a military officer appointed by the president. The main objectives are to comprehensively strengthen the country’s defense capabilities, accelerate decision-making in the defense sector, and involve more military commanders in addition to the Chief of the General Staff.
