Russia has proposed a “West Bank-style” arrangement for post-war Ukraine during talks with the US.
Axar.az, citing JP, reports, in an exclusive article published by The Times, the plan reportedly envisions Russia maintaining military and economic control over occupied Ukrainian territories through a separate governing body, without formally changing Ukraine’s borders.
An unnamed source compared it to Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, saying the land would still be Ukraine in name but effectively under Russian administration.
The idea was discussed in a meeting between Vladimir Putin and US special envoy Steve Witkoff, though White House officials strongly denied such talks took place, calling the report “fake news.”
The proposal’s specifics remain unclear, and Ukrainian and European leaders have expressed frustration over mixed messages from US discussions with Moscow.
