Russia has returned the bodies of 1,000 soldiers to Ukraine.

Axar.az reports, citing RBK-Ukraine, many of those returned to Ukraine were soldiers who died during the fighting in the Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Kursk directions.

According to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the bodies of five Ukrainian servicemen who died in captivity are among those repatriated. They were listed as "seriously wounded and seriously ill" prisoners of war in the exchange list agreed upon during the second round of negotiations in Istanbul.

"The Russian side is prolonging time and not fulfilling its obligations. Ukraine demands the immediate release of all seriously ill and seriously wounded prisoners of war and is fighting for the return of all Ukrainians," the Coordination Headquarters said.

"In the coming days, law enforcement investigators and expert organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will jointly carry out all necessary examinations and identify the repatriated bodies," the headquarters added.
