Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire and hostage exchange deal as part of the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan, prompting celebrations in Israel, Gaza, and across the region.
Axar.az, citing Reuters, reports that the deal, reached through indirect talks in Egypt, aims to end a war that has killed over 67,000 people.
Hostages are expected to be released within 72 hours, and Israeli troops will withdraw to agreed positions.
Despite widespread joy, the agreement lacks key details and could still face collapse. Arab nations have also renewed calls for Palestinian statehood.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the deal a “diplomatic success,” while Hamas confirmed it includes an Israeli withdrawal and prisoner exchange.
