US President Donald Trump wants to modernize the national Navy and turn it into a Golden Fleet.

Axar.az informs that the Wall Street Journal reported on this.

The publication notes that White House and Navy officials are discussing the possibility of replacing the existing fleet with a newer one to counter China and potential threats. Currently, the discussions are at an early stage, and Trump is also participating in the negotiations.

The journal added that the aforementioned “Golden Fleet” is expected to include large warships armed with long-range missiles.

In addition, the White House and the Pentagon have begun talks to create a new, heavily armored ship capable of carrying hypersonic missiles. Washington plans to include 280-300 ships in the fleet, as well as “a large number of unmanned vessels.”

It was not reported when the plan will be implemented.
